If you were enrolled in a private insurance plan through the marketplace or privately in 2017, and did not wish to continue that coverage in 2018, do not assume that your old plan was cancelled. At the LRRC, we have seen several cases where clients who were not proactive about cancelling their 2017 insurance plans continued to be billed for their old plan. This is especially problematic for those who have automatic payments set up and may not realize that they are still being billed by their old carrier.

Please make sure that your old coverage is terminated properly for 2018.
