Assistance Available for Past Due Electric Bills

NJ Shares Logo Ørsted Logo

The Ørsted CARES program (through NJ Shares) has limited funding available for households facing a temporary financial crisis that need help paying their electric bill. Income-eligible families can receive grants up to $200 to cover past-due balances on their electric bills. The income limits are high (for example, the income limit for a family of 6 is $11,720 per month), and anyone facing a temporary financial crisis should consider applying. This program is open to anyone, including those who receive HEAP and other assistance from NJ Shares.

To apply, go to https://apply.njsharesgreen.org, create an account, and provide your basic family information. You will then be able to see all the NJ Shares assistance programs you may be eligible for, including the Ørsted CARES program. Choose the programs you would like to apply for. You will then be asked to provide some additional household information. After submitting, you will be asked to provide documentation to support your application.
