Whether you are looking to purchase a starter home or your true dream home, you have a lot to learn! The public is invited to attend the Lakewood Resource and Referral Center (LRRC)’s free biannual Home Buyer Open House/Fast-Track Education Event to gain a better understanding of what mortgage options are available and how to qualify for them. This event will be held on Monday, November 18 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at CHEMED, located at 1771 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701.

The LRRC is sponsoring the Open House/Fast-Track Education Event in partnership with Solutions to End Poverty Soon (STEPS) to provide you with pertinent information such as how much you can afford to spend, which mortgage option is best for you, and whether you would qualify for a loan.

Anyone purchasing a home, in the market for a home, or considering buying a home is encouraged to attend this free event. Representatives from local lending institutions will be available to discuss various topics relating to the home-buying process, with a special emphasis on how to access reduced interest rates and down payment requirements with no PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance).

Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and review mortgage products with each lender. LRRC and STEPS Certified Housing Counselors will also be available to answer questions.

The LRRC's housing department provides group homeownership education classes and one-on-one counseling sessions. We work with lenders that offer first-time homebuyer programs to assist our clients with obtaining low interest rates, lower down payments, and grants. This event will give you a glimpse into what the LRRC has to offer.

Education Seminar: 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm

1-hour education seminar including presentations by LRRC housing director, Mrs. Bassi Aderet, about the benefits of first-time homebuying programs, and presentations from select lenders about credit and money management, mortgage calculations and ratios, and the application process.

Open House: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Bank representatives will be available during the open house to meet with you and discuss your mortgage options.
