Important update about the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) - 11/2025

Ocean County Applications Are Processed by CHS

The Department of Human Services has announced that it will begin the process of reopening CCAP for a limited number of new slots, with the goal of allowing applications for new children starting in January.

The first opportunity to apply will go to families who fall into the program’s priority groups and who complete a registration form that is expected to open in December. According to the state, the limited number of available slots will be offered to priority groups that include:

  • Families with children experiencing homelessness
  • Children with special needs
  • Children from households with very low incomes

Because funding is limited, not every family in a priority group who is invited to apply will necessarily receive assistance.

For now, the most important step you can take is to sign up to make sure you are notified as soon as the registration form is available.

That way, when the registration form opens, you’ll know right away and can submit it as soon as possible.

We recommend that anyone who may be eligible and is potentially interested should apply immediately once the form opens and not wait to reach us first with questions, because the number of slots is limited and may fill quickly.

We do not have any additional information beyond what is included in this announcement. Specifically, we do not yet know how many slots will be available, exactly how the State will prioritize applicants beyond the groups listed above, and whether there will be funding or eligibility for master’s or other graduate students. As we receive more information, we will share it with the community.

If you have case-specific questions after the form opens or after you apply, schedule an appointment through the LRRC automated scheduling system online at lrrcenter.org/appt or by calling our automated scheduler at (732) 523-1789. You can also email us at questions@lrrcenter.org.
