COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (CVERAP) Phase II
New Jersey will be providing temporary rental assistance for a number of low and moderate-income households that have a substantial reduction in income, have qualified for unemployment benefits, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When: The DCA will accept applications beginning Monday, March 22, 2021 at 9:00 am EST. LRRC recommends applying right away, as the application portal likely will not be open for long.

Information Needed to Apply: A valid e-mail address, names, birthdates, and income information for all individuals living in the household, landlord information, information about current and previous housing assistance received (if any), evidence of financial hardship due to COVID-19, evidence of being high risk for experiencing homelessness or housing instability, lease agreement, and proof of arrearages.

Further Details:
A lottery will be used to determine the order in which applications will be selected for eligibility determination. Every application submitted will have an equal chance of being selected. Families that have already received CVERAP funding that need additional rent support and have not yet received the maximum 12 months of emergency rental assistance can apply for additional funding. Only 1 application per household will be accepted. To be considered, you must qualify for unemployment or have experienced a reduction in income or experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19, demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness, and have a lack of assets and savings to pay rent arrears or current and future rent.
